Flowers and Plants

Flowers are cool. You can press them, pick them, cut them, and a few other things. But those 3 are what I like to do.

I finally started to press flowers again. Even though it rained yesterday, the flowers i picked, the spreading hedge parsley, was small, so there's less mold risk. Just in case, I'll check up on it on Tuesday or Wednesday and replace the parchment paper depending on how rippled it is.

Threw in some Pink evening primrose (one of my fav flowers) in the cup.

The 1 flower did get moldy but I managed to catch that on Thursday, changed out the parchment paper, and ny Sunday it seemed to be fine.

It rained just the day before, so I won't pick any flowers because they might be wet, and if flowers are wet, they can mold.

Almost all of the flowers I pressed got moldy :(. Might be because I pressed thin flowers and thick flowers on the same sheet of parchment paper. I only managed to use the stemmy four-nerve daisy in the frame.

Threw in some butterweed in the cup.

I managed to add almost all the flowers except for the dandelion that got some mold (gross). The flowers I managed to get were pretty colorful as well. I really need to get a binder + plastic protectors at some point, probabaly within a few weeks.

The cup looks sparse, with some perennial wall rocket and hairy buttercup...

Happy Easter!

The flower frame is bursting with color from all the pressed flowers. I also managed to pick quite a decent amount of flowers to press and cut.

The dandelions in the cup became seedheads the week before but started to droop soon after.

7 days have passed, and the dandellion turned pretty dark, and same went for the blue-field madder. No color was to be seen on the new flowers :(, tho interestingly the madder's paper had lots of yellow from what i assume to be pollen.

However, I managed to find quite a lot of flowers to press today.

As for the flower cup, the dandelions closed and are becoming seed heads, and I found buttercup and london rocket to add to the mix.

After 8 days, I took off the books and took out the flowers that I pressed. The buttercup turned orange, while the pansy (blue) felt fragile, and even more so with the yellow flower (probably morning glory). I also found prairie verbina and dandelion to press.

I also have a cup that contained crowpoison where the cup's water was changed every 2 days and the flowers changed every 7 days, but I also decided to add in dandelion and blue-field madder to the mix to add a pop of color.

Successfully pressed some crowpoison. I also picked 3 flowers, where none were pictured prior to pressing — perennial wall rockets, pansy (blue) and a yellow flower (probably morning glory).

I also found more crowpoison and perennial wall rocket to put in the cup

Began to press flowers, 1st attempt deteriorated quickly as I didn't wait long enough or used enough weight to press the flowers (7 days with a tall stack of books). I picked some crowpoison and began pressing that with more weight. At some point I also decided to get a cup out where picked and cut flowers would go.
